Well I can now say that I have reached the halfway mark of my Children in Need #1000milechallenge after my latest run.

A 15.5 mile run yesterday means I have now ran 504.4 miles since New Year’s Day of this year. Feeling pretty chuffed I am halfway through my challenge now. 24.06.17

Still an awfully long way to go but knowing I’m past the halfway mark is pleasing to say the least. But the training is only going to be tougher with two more full marathons on the horizon.

Those marathons being the Wolverhampton Marathon in September and Birmingham Marathon in October.

Heatwave

If you are living in the UK and are reading this, you will know that we had a recent heatwave. Typical British weather, this coming week looks set to be cooler and wet.

So the crazy and mad character that is me, decided to do a run straight after work on one of the warmest days of the year so far (roughly 25/26c). And I had a bag on my back. 20.06.17 - Insta

It was going to be at least a 7.5 mile run and even before I started the run, I decided I wasn’t going to overdo it pacewise.  Of course staying hydrated was going to be a key factor.

Not going to lie, it wasn’t the easiest of runs and it was tough. But at the end of the day I completed the run, kept myself well hydrated and cool by pouring water over myself as well as going at a comfortable pace. It was actually a decent run and one I enjoyed. I was beginning to get tired in the final mile but so many positives to take and it was good to get an experience of running in very warm conditions.

Running for a great cause

As you all know, I’m doing all this for Children in Need to raise money to help make a difference to improve the lives of young/disadvantaged children in the UK.

By donating to Children in Need, these are just some of the ways your donation can help change the lives of many disadvantaged children:

  • A £2 donation can help an 11-year-old boy with autism develop his co-ordination and confidence at a trampoline session
  • A £10 donation can help a young child take part in a speech therapy course where they can manage their stammering and grow in confidence when interacting with others

Here are also some pointers on where your donations are going towards and what projects Children in Need have funded in the past year:

  • Over £170,000 has been awarded to help fund projects to support children who have experienced distress
  • Over £2m has gone towards projects supporting children who have experienced poverty and deprivation
  • Over £560,000 has gone to projects supporting children who have a medical condition

Please donate generously even if it’s just a couple of pounds. Every penny and pound donated will go towards projects nationally to help children build better lives. It will also help children to achieve their potential and turn their dreams into reality. Please help make a difference. Thank you so much.
